Anderson Athletic Center Gets Upgrades During Summer of 2010
While the Anderson Athletic is usually pretty quiet when classes aren’t in session, there was plenty of activity around the gym this past summer. The finishing touches are being put on a pretty impressive facelift for the facility that includes new portable baskets, a scoreboard with stat panels, brighter and more energy efficient lighting, and a Hornet painted in the middle of the floor. The renovations are scheduled to be completed in time for the Hornet Volleyball Green Invitational on September 4th & 5th, 2010.

Men's Basketball
Announces 2009-10 Team Awards The Kalamazoo College Men’s Basketball
program handed out the 2009-10 team awards at its banquet
this past Sunday, Feb. 28. The players honored this
year were:
Most Outstanding Teammate – Jeff Hollenbeck
(JR – East Lansing, MI) Hollenbeck is a great example of how players
can have an impact both on and off the court. Limited
to playing in only 13 games and 98 total minutes due
to a shoulder injury, Jeff found other ways to help
the Hornets. His presence at practice, in the locker
room, and on the bench, in addition to his time on the
floor, was instrumental in the team showing so much
resiliency during the season.
Most Valuable Player – Joe Prepolec (SO
– Bloomfield Hills, MI) Prepolec, a first-team All-MIAA performer,
led the Hornets in rebounding, field goal percentage,
and blocked shots, while finishing second in scoring.
His 59 blocks set a single-season record for Kalamazoo
College. On the season he led the Hornets in scoring
in 14 of their 26 games and led in rebounding in 15
games overall.
Most Improved Player – Eric Fishman (FR
– Southfield, MI) and Joe Wilson (SO – Romeo,
MI) After playing a back-up role to start the season,
Fishman started the final 17 games of the year, leading
the team in three-point field goal percentage and finishing
second in steals and three-point field goals made. Wilson,
who joined the Hornets this year after playing football
his freshman year, started one game but was mostly used
to provide a spark off the bench. He finished the year
second on the team in both field goal and three-point
field goal percentage.
Joe Prepolec and
Ryan Clark earn All-MIAA honors Joe Prepolec and Ryan Clark earned All-MIAA
Men's Basketball honors as selected by the league coaches
on Monday, March 1. Joe Prepolec, a
sophomore from Bloomfield Hills (Andover HS), was selected
to the All-MIAA First Team after averaging 12.6 points
and 7.2 rebounds overall this season. In league play,
Prepolec ranked fifth with 15.1 points per game and
second with 8.9 rebounds per game. He led the league
with 33 blocks (2.4/game) and ranked fifth in field
goal percentage (.500). Prepolec recorded five double-doubles
in league play and posted career-highs in points (27)
and rebounds (14) against Albion on January 13. Ryan
Clark, a junior from Leslie (Leslie HS), was
selected to the All-MIAA Second Team after averaging
13.8 points and 5.2 rebounds overall this season. In
league play, Clark ranked fourth in scoring with 15.5
points per game. Clark ranked fourth in free throw percentage
(.805), fifth in three-pointers made (1.9/game), sixth
in field goal percentage (.414), ninth in three-point
percentage (.329) and 10th in rebounding (5.5/game).
Clark posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds
