2010 Men's Golf Season Preview
The Kalamazoo College men's golf team returns an experienced group for the 2010 season. Three of the top four scorers return as seniors along with some up-and-coming sophomores.

The three seniors returning with the most experience are Jordan Fairbanks, Brooks Tuyn and Chris Dendrinos. All three had their best seasons as collegiate golfers last year. Fairbanks led the 2009 team with a 78.4 average and has an 80.8 average for his career. He shot 76 twice last season and shot a career-best 74 in 2007. Tuyn averaged 79.9 last year with an 80.2 career average. He shot a career-best 75 last season. Dendrinos averaged 82.1 last year and has an 84.1 career average.

Two sophomores return and are expected to challenge for playing time. Brad Merritt averaged 84.8 in five matches last season while shooting a 77 in the season's final match. Ben Dueweke averaged 86.8 in four matches. The sophomores will challenge seniors Jared Cohen and Rohan Vaidya, both of whom are returning from study abroad.

Kalamazoo has the potential to improve in the MIAA as the Hornets finished just 32 total strokes out of seventh place last year. With eight rounds, Kalamazoo just needs to pick up four strokes per round (one stroke per player) to beginning moving up in the standings. The season is scheduled to being Sept. 9th at Olivet.

The final MIAA Men's Golf Jamboree of the season has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at Wuskowhan Players Club near Holland.

The men's golf MIAA Jamboree at Hope has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 12 at Wuskowhan Players Club near Holland. The original match on Sept. 28 was postponed due to the weather.

Men's Golf 8th at opening MIAA Jamboree
The men's golf team finished eighth at the first MIAA Jamboree of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Bedford Valley (Olivet). Kalamazoo had a team score of 328, five strokes behind Alma and eight behind Albion. Jordan Fairbanks led Kalamazoo with a 79. Brooks Tuyn shot an 81. Ben Dueweke (83), Noah Oesterle (85) and Brad Merritt (88) rounded out the top five for Kalamazoo. The Hornets next match is Saturday, Sept. 12 at Alma. Complete Results

2009 Season Preview
The men's golf team enters its sixth season under coach Steve Tyler. The Hornets return three of their top four scorers from last season, including Noah Oesterle (senior) who led the team with a 77.6 average. Oesterle shot a season-best 76 on two different courses.

Brooks Tuyn and Jordan Fairbanks return for their junior seasons. Tuyn averaged 80.4 last year and shot a season-best 77 at Bedford Valley. Fairbanks averaged 82.0 and shot a 79  at Wuskowhan.

The 2009 season opens September 8 at Bedford Valley (Olivet).

Dan Hoevel earns MIAA Sportsmanship Award
Dan Hoevel, a junior from Okemos, received the 2008 MIAA Men's Golf Sportsmanship Award. Hoevel averaged 80.6 in league play with a season-best 75 at The Medalist.
